Musician/ Saxophonist/ Composer / Arranger
2005年タイガー大越氏により開催されたBerklee College of Musicタイアップの北海道グ ルーブキャンプを受講し優秀賞受賞、2010年、Terri Lyne Carrington (ds)が指揮す るBerklee Summer Jazz Workshopのメンバーに選抜され奨学生として参加。2011 年、バークリー音楽院に全額奨学生として入学以来、 Terri Lyne Carrington(ds), Terrence Blanchard(tp), Jamie Callum (vo,pf) 等のグラミーアーティストと共演。
2016年 から4年間 "報道ステーション"のテーマ曲を自身も所属するバンド "J- Squad"で手掛け、UNIVERSAL MUSIC JAPANよりアルバムJ-Squad、J-Squad ii を リリースしBlue Note Tokyo、Fiji Rock Festival 17などにも出演。ファッションブ ランド ”TAKEO KIKUCHI” ともコラボレーションを行う。
2020 年 に自身初のリーダーアルバム『Story Teller』をリリース。 2022年4月、2ndアルバム『Gathering』をリリース。
Tomoaki Baba
Musician /Saxophone player /Composer /Arranger /Art Producer
Tomoaki Baba was born in 1992 in Sapporo, Japan and began playing saxophone when he was 7 years old. He attended the renowned Berklee 5-week summer program in 2007, 2008, 2009 as a full-scholarship student. He was selected for Berklee Jazz workshop directed by Terri Lyne Carrington in 2010. In 2011, Tomoaki was the recipient of a full-scholarship to the Berklee College of Music.
After graduating, Tomoaki moved to New York City and has become an active sideman and leader, performing with artists like Terence Blanchard, Dayna Stephens, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jamie Callum, Sean Jones, Darren Barrett and Louis Cole.
Since Tomoaki moved to Japan in 2020, he has been passionated putting leader projects, and has released 2 albums “Story Teller” and “Gathering”. Also Tomoaki has been organizing events named “BaBaBar” which is collaborations with musicians in all over the world like Mark Guiliana, Makaya McCraven, Marquis Hill, Ben Wendel.
Also Tomoaki is we known by performing for main character Dai Miyamoto (ts) from Japanese animation movie “Blue Giant”
